Annie Cavanaugh is originally from New York and Connecticut and then moved to Utah where she completed her secondary education. She is a graduate of American Fork High School where her principal instrument was flute. She was in band, choir, a senior class officer and drum major of the award winning American Fork High School Marching Band. Following high school she pursued her bachelor's degree in music education at Brigham Young University - Idaho.

Mrs. Cavanaugh had two dreams in life, to become a mother and a music teacher. A love of music brought her and her husband together while performing in the pit orchestra for the musical "Guys and Dolls".  Becoming a mom came first, and through a series of happy and unexpected accidents, becoming a music teacher came second.

Mrs. Cavanaugh and her family moved to Burbank in 2009 in support of her husband's career in film sound. Little did she know this move would eventually help her live the goal that she had realized long before Burbank was on the horizon. In August of 2015 she was hired and taught elementary music at Providencia, McKinley and Disney Elementary for five years before transitioning to Burbank High School to become the director of the instrumental music program in 2020. She is proud to be a Burbank District parent, director, and teacher.
